DO SOMETHING NEW

Podere Trafonti is dedicated to hosting groups from 6 to 12 people for at least two nights who wish to be with each other and do things together. There are many things to do in our area, for all ages and interests.

Let us know what you have in mind and we will be happy to share suggestions and help you organise your activities. Alternatively, we invite you to join one of our unique Rendez-Vous.

Body, Mind & Soul

When we move and breathe, we feel an invigorating stream of life run through our body, and our mind and senses awaken to our environment and to ourselves. Especially when we move in nature. We feel healthier, happier, stronger and more aware. And aren’t holidays made to regain our energy and with it, our good mood?

Whether you’d like to take gentle or challenging yoga practices; a hike into the hills and villages of the area; a bicycle or e-bike tour; go horse riding or bathing in the local natural hot springs, we can advise you on these and other activities and set everything up for you.

Do Something Adventurous: Take Part in a Honeybee Safari.
Explore the fascinating world of the honeybee with Antonella.

An introduction to the life and work of the honeybee, visit to the apiary with protective gear, honey tasting with breads, cheeses, fruit and an introduction to cooking with honey and using the various products of the apiary.
Prices on request (not suitable for children under 12 years).

Art & Culture

Our area abounds in archaeological, architectural, artistic, artisanal and cultural treasures. From the Etruscan to the modern-day Italian, the inhabitants of Tuscany are world-famous for their exquisite taste and their superior creative skills.

Podere Trafonti is within an easy driving distance of acclaimed villages and cities such as Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Siena, Arezzo, Perugia, Florence and Rome, whose civilizations and heritage have profoundly shaped the aesthetics and thinking of Europe and beyond. The contemplation of their masterpieces of art and architecture will fill you with a sense of awe and elevation.

Antonella and Bernard will be delighted to guide you in your explorations of the artistic and cultural treasures in our area. And if you wish to practice your own creativity, we will be happy to organise photography courses or other artistic activities upon request.

Do Something Cultured: Attend a Music, Theatre or Art Festival. From spring to autumn, many cultural and artistic events are held in our area.

Music concerts and festivals, art exhibits, theatre plays, antique markets and even playful parkours are hosted in the towns around us. Such as the “Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano, hosting two weeks of creative celebration, or the classical music festival “Incontri in Terra di Siena” presenting world-class performers in various beautiful local venues. As passionate art lovers, we will gladly grant a 10% discount on accommodation to guests who are attending any culture or art event in the area.

Farm & Fork

In Italy, sharing home-cooked meals is a daily celebration of togetherness. In the family or with friends and colleagues, cooking and eating together is a time for conversations, fun and conviviality. Scouting for specialties and quality ingredients, preparing meals to delight all the senses, commenting on memorable recipes masterfully prepared by parents or friends are founding rituals of strong social relations. Here, food (and drink) nourish much more than the body.

At Podere Trafonti, we take pride in producing our own honey, cultivating organic olives, fruit and vegetables according to permaculture approaches and serving our own eggs and fresh crop to our guests. What we don’t grow ourselves, we source with trusted, local producers who passionately cultivate high-quality food. Our breakfast table is generous and varied, boasting seasonal and almost exclusively Tuscan products. We cook with pleasure and creativity and we enjoy sitting down with our guests to indulge in shared meals.

Upon request, we will also serve lunches and dinners; or else, we will guide you to our preferred tables, where the food is prepared with care and passion, and direct you to our favourite places for wine, cheese and olive oil tasting.

If you wish to learn to prepare and eat some tasty Italian specialties, made with home-grown and locally sourced ingredients, we will be happy to arrange for cooking and tasting classes, including at an organic farm, with a stellar chef or with a nutritionist;. We can also arrange for you to forage for and then cook with wild, edible flowers and plants; hunt for truffles with expert dogs and their clever masters.

Do Something Fun: Throw a Pizza Party.  Learn how to prepare and bake your own pizza in the wood oven under the guidance of a seasoned pizzaiolo. Includes appetizer and desert and one glass of wine or beer per adult person. Prices on request.
