In Italy, sharing home-cooked meals is a daily celebration of togetherness. In the family or with friends and colleagues, cooking and eating together is a time for conversations, fun and conviviality. Scouting for specialties and quality ingredients, preparing meals to delight all the senses, commenting on memorable recipes masterfully prepared by parents or friends are founding rituals of strong social relations. Here, food (and drink) nourish much more than the body.
At Podere Trafonti, we take pride in producing our own honey, cultivating organic olives, fruit and vegetables according to permaculture approaches and serving our own eggs and fresh crop to our guests. What we don’t grow ourselves, we source with trusted, local producers who passionately cultivate high-quality food. Our breakfast table is generous and varied, boasting seasonal and almost exclusively Tuscan products. We cook with pleasure and creativity and we enjoy sitting down with our guests to indulge in shared meals.
Upon request, we will also serve lunches and dinners; or else, we will guide you to our preferred tables, where the food is prepared with care and passion, and direct you to our favourite places for wine, cheese and olive oil tasting.
If you wish to learn to prepare and eat some tasty Italian specialties, made with home-grown and locally sourced ingredients, we will be happy to arrange for cooking and tasting classes, including at an organic farm, with a stellar chef or with a nutritionist;. We can also arrange for you to forage for and then cook with wild, edible flowers and plants; hunt for truffles with expert dogs and their clever masters.
